Skjálfandafljót river

Skjálfandafljót is one of the major rivers on the north coast of Iceland and has it's source from the biggest glacier in Europe called Vatnajökull. This glacial river is famous for many large waterfalls and big fish. Skjálfandafljót, located in the heart of the north is a definite favourite of ours. Set in extreme surroundings in a large canyon, there is a mixture of all types of water and is always a challenge to fish. This is also the perfect place for anglers who enjoy a hike through beautiful surroundings.

Skjálfandafljót is known for its good sized salmon and runs through Aðaldalur valley just as her sister river Laxá in Aðaldalur does. There are many interesting places close by, for example the town of Húsavik, Myvatnsveit, Goðafoss waterfall and the fascinating lava fields.

Every year we at Iceland Outfitters are pleased to have a few days available at Skjálfandafljót river. It's a great idea to combine fishing in Skjálfandafljót with the famous trout beat at Laxá or Fnjóská or even experience the highland fishing in the North.
