Iceland, South Shore adventure
The lighthouse, over a century old, is the only active lighthouse where visitors can stay, making it the most exclusive accommodation in Iceland. It sits at the southern-most point of the country, in the stunning surrounding area of Vík í Mýrdal.
The hotel in question is in the transformed Dyrhólaey lighthouse, dating back to 1910, located on the central south coast of Iceland. No one has ever had the opportunity to stay in the lighthouse, which has been given a magnificent transformation, assuming the role of a stunning private hotel for a limited time only. It offers breath-taking views in all directions, including the endless Icelandic coastline, impressive Mýrdalsjökull glacier and a huge arch of lava, which reaches out to the sea. The task of transforming the lighthouse was entrusted to top Icelandic designer Guðbjörg Magnúsdóttir. Taking her cue from nature, she has created a space where natural colors meet comfortable surroundings, elevating the hotel experience to an outstanding Icelandic.
In fact, the lighthouse is only available from September 1st until October 31st 2015.
