Spey, Orton beat
May is time for fishing in Scotland.
I will be fishing the Orton beat with friends if anyone here wants to join our group, we have 3 rods available.
With every 3 rods there is a self-catering lodge and one guide.
The Orton water lies about 8 miles upstream from the mouth of the River Spey, one of Britain's best known Salmon rivers. The chance to fish on an exclusively owned stretch of this premier river must surely represent the pinnacle of an angler's ambition! Set in the stunning scenery of the Spey valley, the Orton beats have produced salmon of up to 46lbs, and one of our experienced ghillies will be on hand at all times to help you to fish either from the bank or from one of our traditional boats.
I have some exceptional availabilities to offer on the Orton beat of the river Spey. Orton is probably amongst the best Spring beats here with some classic pools. The Orton beat is split in two three rod beats so is let as a three or six rod option, rotating at lunch time. There is masses of water and space for all to fish in peace and there is a superb fishing hut. The beat is let with two ghillies and there is a boat on one of the pools which can be useful if there are any less experienced guests to get them covering the fish properly. The estate has a good number of cottages located very close to the beat and depending on which date option is of interest to you I can advise which is available. They are all traditional, mostly Edwardian highland lodges, not overly smart, but perfect for a fishing party, I have included some images from one of the St Mary’s cottages which is a good example. The cottages are let with the services of a cleaner, but otherwise self-catering, but I can arrange a cook as required.
