The first day of the salmon season in Iceland is today

Nordurá river is the first river to open in Iceland

We just got fresh news from Nordurá river, the river opened at 8:00 this morning and now at 10:00 we can confirm at least 4 salmon have been caught from the pool Eyrin. This is good news and very promising for the season.

A few days ago, anglers were fishing for trout in the Brennan junction pool of Thverá and Hvita and caught the first salmon of the season a 78 cm salmon, which was then released.

a few fish have been spotted in West Rangá on beat no 1 in Djupos, we have never seen salmon this early in West Rangá river, normally we spot the first fish around June 20th.

Tight lines
