Skjalfandafljot river in Northern Iceland

Skjalfandafljot river

Skjalfandafljot is one of the major rivers on the north coast of Iceland and comes from the biggest glacier in Europe, called Vatnajokull. It is a glacial river and is famous for many large waterfalls and its big fish. Skjalfandafljot river is the fourth longest river in Iceland and runs through Adaldalur valley just like her sister river, Laxa in Adaldalur.

Set in extreme surroundings in a large canyon, there is a mixture of all types of water and it is always a challenge to fish. This is the perfect place for anglers who like hiking through beautiful surroundings.

There are many interesting places close by, for example, the town of Husavik, Myvatnssveit, Godafoss waterfall and the fascinating lava fields.
