Fishing in Iceland 2018

Fishing in Iceland, 2018 season

Salmon fishing in Iceland started May 27, with the opening of Urridafoss waterfall in Thjorsá. It is the first time the salmon season opens so early in Iceland and we are happy to see it started well with 10 salmon caught.

Next rivers are opening early June and all rivers will be open by July 1st.

Primetime to fish for salmon has always been July and August until the last couple of years when salmon have been arriving earlier and June has been a huge success, with big 2SW salmon runs. It looks like the big salmon is arriving early this year as it has been seen in several rivers already.

Most of the salmon fishing is fully booked for this season, BUT, there are always few days that become available. All of the options here below are PRIME TIME days on the river
