Iceland Outfitters introduces Melar goose hunting grounds.

The Melar hunting grounds provide some of the very best goose hunting grounds to be found in Europe. The large hunting grounds consist of a combination of barley fields, grasslands and a large wetland, making the Melar grounds extremely attractive for the geese. During hunting season, we have thousands of geese feeding on the grounds.

To explain the size of our hunting grounds, 300 ha land equals 3.000.000m2, which is the same size as 420 large soccer fields.

The Melar grounds are especially designed to increase the quality of shooting. We limit the number of guns to 4 guns per day even though it would easily be possible for up to 12 hunters to be shooting per day. This is done to rest the other fields we have and to keep the geese on our grounds, providing them with a place to feed.

Season starts August 20th. Prime time for hunting geese is from mid September to mid November.

The hunting grounds are located within 30 min drive from Reykjavik, so you will not need to spend much time travelling.

Iceland Outfitters offers two 3 day packages for the goose hunt. In two different service and price categories. Please ask for further information about our packages.

Here you can read a bit more about the hunt, but please ask us for the program

Our tours are all tailor made, so it is easy for us to change the itinerary to meet your wishes. Many choose to use the opportunity to combine trout or salmon fishing with the goose hunting package, which is possible until late October.
