Ptarmigan hunting is the most popular wing hunting sport in Iceland. The ptarmigan is our traditional dinner on Christmas Eve and for some people in Iceland there is no Christmas without ptarmigan. It is prohibited to sell the birds, so most families have at least one member of the family who hunts ptarmigan.
Our good friend and great hunter Mr. Sigurbjörn Árnasson sent us these beautiful photos of Ptarmigans. Sigurbjörn went out a few weeks ago photo shooting and managed to get some really nice photos.
The Ptarmigan season is short, or only 4 weekends in October/November every year.
