On March 20th a partial solar eclipse will be visible from Iceland

Partial solar eclipse.

On Friday, March 20th a partial solar eclipse will be visible from Iceland. The moon will be passing between the earth and the sun and although not total it will nevertheless be a spectacular sight. From Rangá the moon will cover just over 98% of the sun, leaving a slither of light making it quite magical. We are offering tours from the ranch style Hotel Rangá in the east of Iceland, where last year they opened a new observatory and its position in the countryside guarantees almost no light pollution. The tour itself takes you to the best place and weather permitting should guarantee a great view.

Hotel Rangá are working closely with the Icelandic astronomical community and are actually donating special solar eclipse goggles to every student in Iceland so that they can observe the eclipse safely. This has never been done in any country before and is therefore quite unique. Don’t miss this chance to view a solar eclipse from a beautiful place in Iceland.
