Greenland, Arctic Char fishing

Iceland Outfitters offers fly fishing for Arctic char in South Greenland.

The rivers are full of Arctic char and the scenery is truly stunning, Greenland is covered by a large glacier and in almost every fjord you can see it creeping its way down to the ocean where large icebergs float, making it a remarkable sight. Greenland is a cold and rustic land, but most definately a must see for all nature lovers.

Accommodation

Guest stay in a guesthouse in Narsaq village in about 1 hours sailing from the airport. The adventurous ones can choose to stay 2 nights by the river in a tent if they wish to do so.

Fishing

Starts early in the morning after breakfast, anglers are collected by their guides who then sail with them to the rivers. In the evening the guides take the anglers back to the hotel where a hot meal and a warm bed are waiting.

Single handed rod 9-10 feet, floating line in weight 5-8,

Flies

All streamers in white, orange, pink. Nymphs, dry flies work sometimes well too.

Fly fishing tours in Greenland, Narsarsuaq

3 nights, Saturday to Tuesday:

Arrive at Reykjavik airport 11:00, departure 13:00.
Arrival in Nasarsuaq 14:00. Our boats collect you and sail to Narsaq village, the trip takes approx. 1 hour. Check in at the hotel, then meet with the guide to get any further information needed and acquainted with the local area. You have time in the afternoon to walk around the village and its surroundings.
The next two days will be spent fishing in excellent rivers, like the Illua river which is a world-class Arctic Char river or one of the murky glacier rivers that hold the large fish, in between that there will be time for some sightseeing. On departure day we leave the hotel early and sail to a Norse Viking settlement in Brattahlid before going to the airport. Departure is 14:45, but it is preferable to be there 2 hours early.

4 nights, Tuesday - Saturday:

Departure from Reykjavik airport 13:00, but it´s best to be there 2 hours early.
Arrival in Nasarsuaq 14:00. We pick you up at the airport and sail to Narsaq, where you check in at the hotel, then meet with the guide to gain any further information needed and acquainted with the local area. You then have time in the afternoon to walk around the village and its surroundings.
The next three days will be spent fishing in excellent rivers, like the Illua river which is a world-class Arctic Char river and one of the murky glacier rivers that hold the large fish. There will also be time for a bit of sightseeing in between fishing. On departure day we leave the hotel early and sail to a Norse Viking settlement in Brattahlid before going to the airport. Departure is 14:45, but it is good to be there 2 hours early.

Week trip, 7 nights, Saturday – Saturday:

Arrival in Nasarsuaq 14:00. We collect you at the airport and sail to Narsaq, the boat trip takes approx. 1 hour. Check in at the hotel and meet your guide to gain any further information needed and acquainted with the local area. You the are free in the afternoon to walk around the village and its surroundings.

On the week tour, we fish 5 full days and use one day for sightseeing. First we fish two full days in excellent rivers, like the Illua river which is a world-class Arctic Char river or one of the murky glacier rivers that hold the large fish. The day after we spend the day sightseeing and there's lots to see, either around the icebergs where the Greenland ice cap meets the ocean, visit the ice further inland or go for a guided walk around the town and learn about Greenlandic culture and their food. The mountain is also a popular hiking destination. The last three days it's fishing in excellent rivers and lakes around the area. On departure day we leave the hotel early and sail to a Norse Viking settlement in Brattahlid before going to the airport. Departure is 14:45, but it is good to be there 2 hours early. These sightseeing trips are flexible so the Viking settlement can be seen at the beginning of the trip or not at all,

Please note that the weather and water level is the key player in Greenland, so we may have to adjust our program according to situations
