Goose hunting in Iceland

Waterfowl hunting in Iceland is a unique experience.

In Iceland we hunt for geese and ducks. We are proud to introduce one of the finest goose hunting areas in the whole of Europe, Melar hunting grounds.

Melar goose hunt - Private hunting grounds

Join us hunting the Melar hunting grounds, the combination of over 300 ha of barley fields, grasslands and a large wetland makes Melar grounds extremely attractive for geese . During the hunting season, we have thousands of geese feeding on these grounds.

To give you an idea of the size of our hunting grounds, then 300 ha land equals 3.000.000m2, which is the same size as 420 large soccer fields.

Melar grounds are especially designed to increase the quality of shooting. We limit the number of guns to 4 guns per day. This is done to rest the other fields we have and to keep the geese on our grounds. By doing this the geese will always have a place to feed.

To keep the quality of shooting through the season, there is a quota, 16 geese per gun per day. Average hunt is 20 geese per morning, 5 birds per person.

The hunt starts early in the morning, when it is still dark. We are at the fields getting ready one hour before daylight and the shooting takes place during the first 3-4 hours after daylight.
