Fullsæll is a new river to the public located in South Iceland, the river has mostly been used for private use. It is a perfect day-tour fishing destination and is around 60-minute drive from Reykjavik.
This river offers ample opportunities to fish for brown trout. Fullsæll river is surrounded by mountains and rolling hills.The river features many slow-moving, wide stretches and deep pools, offering excellent opportunities for dry fly fishing during the summer months. The fishing area spans approximately 2 km and comfortably accommodates up to 4 rods. It is licensed for 4 rods per day.

Fullsæll is ideally located for visitors who want to combine world-class fishing with unforgettable sightseeing. Within a short drive, you can explore:
Þingvellir National Park – Iceland’s most historic site and natural wonder
Öxarárfoss waterfall – A scenic and easily accessible stop within the park
Silfra fissure – World-famous snorkeling and diving between tectonic plates
Geysir & Gullfoss – Two of Iceland’s most iconic Golden Circle attractions, less than an hour away
Recommended flies: In spring, small streamers tend to be the most effective, including patterns like the Black Ghost, Woolly Bugger, Nobbler, Rector, and others. As summer progresses, nymphs such as the Pheasant Tail and Zebra Midge often become more productive. During favorable weather conditions in July and August, anglers may enjoy exceptional dry fly fishing.
Recommended tackles: Single-handed rods. 9-10 feet, weight 4-7, floating line.

Fish species that are resident to Fullsæll are brown trout and arctic char. Brown trout are mostly common there.
