Lower Ranga river, Holsa
The Lower Rangá is the lowest part of both East and West Rangá rivers, the East bank. Lower Rangá is the perfect place for medium sized groups as they can rent the lodge and the 6 rods beat privately for themselves.
The stretch is about 20 km long and goes from the junction of Thverá/East Rangá (8 km), through the junction of East/West Rangá and towards the sea.
All salmon that run up to East and West Rangá rivers has to go through Lower Rangá, which makes this beat very interesting and pretty wild when fish are running. Prime time, this is high volume fishing and similar average catch per rod per day as in the East and West Rangá rivers.
The Lower Ranga river lodge
The fishing lodge is one of the finest, and anglers can choose if they arrange for their own meals or use the service of a local chef. Lodge has 6 twin, ensuite bedrooms, large sitting/dining room, a large veranda, good tackle store and a hot tub.
Lower Rangá is located in about 90 min drive from Reykjavik.
Anglers are mainly fishing for salmon, but there is a good sea trout fishing after mid-August. The largest sea trout caught there was 18 lbs.
