Private Sightseeing tours – Iceland Outfitters

Snæfellsnes peninsula, about 2 hours from Reykjavík, is often called Iceland en miniature because it is just as many-sided as the entire island itself. Snæfellsnes really has it all: from golden beaches to stretches of black lava fields, a versatile flora and fauna, charming fishing villages, lava caves, great hiking possibilities and of course the notorious glacier at volcano Snæfellsjökull.

Via the lush green valleys of rural Borgarfjörður you will reach Snæfellsnes well before noon, leaving you with the chance to take a scenic coastal walk between Arnarstapi and Hellnar. During the summer months you can have fish soup or home-made waffles in the little café in Hellnar, enjoying the beautiful view onto the Atlantic ocean. Alternatively, we recommend lunch at nearby Langaholt farm.

After lunch, you can visit the black pebble beach at Djúpalónssandur before continuing to the most photographed mountain of Iceland, majestic Kirkjufell near Grundarfjörður.
Have a cup of fresh coffee in the picturesque fishing village of Stykkishólmur and, if time allows, pay a visit to the tiny private shark-museum in Bjarnarhöfn. Return to the capital in the evening.

Optional: this region offers various other attractions as well as there are several activities you could join – for example cave exploration, a cruise on Breiðafjörður bay from Stykkishólmur or the Ice tunnel in Langjökull Glacier, just to name a few.
We recommend to add an overnight stay in Snæfellsnes in order to make the best of your trip.
