SOUTH COAST ADVENTURE, including the Glacier Lagoon – PRIVATE SIGHTSEEING TOUR
The South coast, incluting the glacier lagoon tour kicks off with a morning pickup from your Reykjavík accommodation.
The first stop of the itinerary is Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland’s most visited waterfalls. Visitors can get up close and personal with this magnificent cascade and even walk behind it for unique photo opportunities.
Next, the tour continues along the Ring Road, visiting the Skógafoss waterfall and heading towards the Hekla volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in Iceland today. In the Middle Ages, Hekla was known as the “gateway to hell.”
From the Ring Road, you’ll also spot the infamous Eyjafjallajökull volcano, known for its famous 2010 eruption that disrupted air traffic across Europe.
The next stop is Reynisfjara, a black sand beach decorated with massive sea stacks and hexagonal basalt columns. After exploring the beach, the tour visits the photogenic town of Vík í Myrdal, where the Reynisdrangar sea rock formations await.
Continuing along the ever-changing South Coast, the tour offers views of green lava fields, barren deserts of black sand, impressive sea cliffs, and scenic glacial rivers en route to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.
Jökulsárlón is a breathtaking sight, with icebergs of all sizes, shapes, and colors floating on the water. Some of the icebergs wash up on shore, scattered across the sand like shining jewels, creating the aptly named Diamond Beach.
There will be time to explore the lagoon, and an optional boat tour is available from May to October when the weather permits (not included in the tour price).
Afterward, the tour returns to Reykjavik.
Please note that the itinerary is subject to weather and road conditions. In winter, limited daylight hours may require visiting some sights in dusk, darkness, or skipping them altogether. The tour operator will do their best to avoid any alterations to the itinerary but requests understanding if changes are necessary.
