Whale watching – Iceland Outfitters

Whale watching – from Reykjavik harbour

The feeling when experiencing whales up close is magnificent, seeing these giant creatures swimming around in their natural environment is an experience everyone visiting Iceland should try and definitely a must do for nature lovers. The whales that are most commonly seen on the whale watching tours are humpback whales, minke whales, porpoises and dolphins.

The whale watching tours Iceland Outfitters offer are private tours and perfect for families, friends and groups up to 10 people. Iceland Outfitters offers personal tours, high of quality and standards, where strive for our guests to get the most out of their experience.

The tour usually operates from the Reykjavik harbour, where the captain welcomes the guests on board. It is possible to arrange the tour from other locations if requested. The boat sails into Faxi Bay where the captain will find suitable locations for whale watching. The location can differ from day to day depending on sea conditions, weather etc. The captain strives to find the most pleasant and comfortable locations at all times. Please note that it is never possible to guarantee that whales will be spotted on the tour but our success rate is very high.

All whale watching tours are private and custom made. The departure time is flexible and the length of the tour. Usually the tours are either 3 or 5 hours long, with an option of adding extra hours for an additional cost. Combining whale watching with other sea adventures is also a good idea, it has been a great success among our guests to combine whale watching and sea angling, please ask us for a proposal. There is no additional cost for combining two adventures on the same tour.

Iceland Outfitters provides rain jackets and life vests. We always recommend guests to wear warm clothes, even though the weather is warm and good, it is always colder out on sea.
