Holaá River is the best char river in South Iceland. It is a renowned day-tour fishing destination located in southern Iceland, just a 60-minute drive from Reykjavik.
This productive river offers ample opportunities to fish for trout and arctic char. In addition to its excellent fishing conditions, Holaá River is surrounded by fascinating natural features, including hot water that emerges from the ground. Local residents even use this heated water to bake bread in the earth, and all the warm water ultimately flows into the river, improving the fish’s habitat.
Holaá River is situated near the Laugarvatn village, which is on the Golden Circle route, between Thingvellir and Geysir.
