Hölkná river is one of the greater fishing rivers in the northern part of the country. It is known for its big salmon and the unique and stunning nature.
Reindeers are the only big game in Iceland and have roamed free in the Eastern part of Iceland since the wild Eurasian reindeer was introduced in Iceland around 1780. There have never been domestic reindeers in Iceland.
The volcano is just 20km (13 miles) from Reykjavík, and after about a 45 minute hike across the lava fields accompanied by a guide you arrive at Thrihnukagigur.
